Contact usWho Can Participate? The Orono Youth Wrestling program is for all youth (boys and girls) in Orono and its surrounding communities in Pre-K - 8th Grade. It is geared for all levels of wrestlers but will focus on the fundamentals and fun of wrestling.

We believe athletes improve the fastest when they enjoy what they’re doing. Practices will combine quality instruction, skill-building drills, competitive games, and plenty of opportunities to learn and grow.

Whether you're new to the sport or looking to get back on the mat, this is the perfect opportunity to learn the basics, meet our coaches, and train alongside our team in a fun, supportive environment. No experience necessary — just bring a positive attitude and a willingness to work hard. Register once and attend as many trial dates as you wish.

GIRLS
Girls wrestling is the fastest-growing sport in the United States, and we want every girl to feel welcomed and supported. We offer a girls-only practice that focuses on fun, fundamentals, and skill development. Girls also have the option to participate in our other practices if they choose.

Our PK-K practices are designed to be fun while building a strong foundation for wrestling. Practices include games, tumbling, movement skills, and basic wrestling techniques in a positive and engaging environment

MIDDLE SCHOOL
NEW!!!! Orono Wrestling is excited to launch a new Middle School Wrestling Team for boys and girls interested in learning, improving, and competing in one of the world’s oldest and most respected sports.
Our program is designed for athletes of all experience levels. Whether you’re brand new to wrestling or looking to sharpen your skills, our coaches will help you build confidence through fundamentals, drills, repetition, and fun.

- Session 2 - Dec 17 - Apr 1 - Join the Travel Team practices
IN-HOUSE
Our In-House program focuses on fun, fundamentals, and repetition. The goal is to help each wrestler develop the skills, confidence, and work habits needed to move up to the Travel Team within the next year or two.
Wrestlers in this group may be invited to move up to the Travel Team as they progress. If you are unsure which practice is the best fit for your child, we recommend starting in the In-House program and allowing our coaches to determine when they are ready for the next step.

TRAVEL
The Travel Team is designed for wrestlers with two or more years of experience who are committed to improving their skills. Wrestlers in this practice are expected to be focused, disciplined, and ready to work hard.
Practices move at a faster pace Once Techniques are learned and include some advanced technique, drilling, and live situations . Athletes are expected to come prepared to learn, compete, and continuously improve.
NOTE: Must have more >2 years of experience. Practices are more focused and disciplined. If you are unsure if the travel team is a good fit, register for In-House to start and discuss with coach Jeff about moving up.

WRESTLING COMPETITIONS for Tots, Girls, In-House, Travel & Middle School Teams
- Compete in individual and/or team competitions against own age, size, and weight
- Optional tournaments on Saturday or Sunday mornings
- Experienced wrestlers also compete in dual meets
- All parents & wrestlers expected to participate in Home Tournaments on 1/30 & 1/31
Grades PK-12 Advanced Training Opportunities
YEAR-ROUND PARTNERSHIP WITH GARAGE CREW WRESTLING
This program is designed for boys and girls looking to take their wrestling to the next level with year-round opportunities. This program focuses on high-level technique, intense drilling, live wrestling, and building the mindset required for success at the state and national levels. Wrestlers will benefit from personalized coaching, small group sessions, and a competitive atmosphere that pushes them to excel. Whether you're chasing championship goals or looking to stay sharp in the off-season, Garage Crew Wrestling’s advanced training hosted right here at Orono High School provides the perfect environment for serious athletes committed to continuous improvement.
